Kodaikanal :  Hill town in the southern India

“The Gift of the Forest” this is what Kodaikanal means. It is also referred to as the ”Princess of Hill stations”. At the height of 7000 feet above sea level, Kodaikanal offers breathtaking views to the nature lovers.


Kodaikanal can be easily reached by bus from all the major cities. Cab / taxis can also be hired. Nearest railway station is Kodai road and Madurai is the nearest Airport.

,The prime attractions include kodaikanal lake where boating is a must.Coakers walk, offers beautiful city view while walking in the pathway which is about 1 km. It is better walk when the sun is up because mornings and evenings are misty. Kuruji andavar temple, chettiar park, Bryant park, pillar rocks, old churches (some more than 100yrs old) are some of the other attractions which are in the city vicinity. Poombarai village view is another beautiful location which is about 18kms from city. This place was a tribal village before but now villagers are civilized. This place is famous for growing garlic. When you take this tour, you can consider adding Gundar falls, mahalaxmi temple view, pine forest.

The best thing to do in Kodaikanal is cycling. Either morning or evening around the lake which is 5kms in total.

Various accommodations are available in Kodai at reasonable prices. Food is also not an issue since Kodai has Variety of restaurants / eat outs which offer Indian, continental and Chinese cuisine.

There are lot of shops around the lake for quick buys.Your shopping bag must include home made chocolates, spices and essential oils.
