Ranganathittu: Pakshi Kaashi of Karnataka

Birds are one of the most beautiful creation on the earth.
In spite of all the similarities that the bird species share, they have certain unique characteristics which differentiate them from others. Only when you visit a bird sanctuary, you will understand better.

Ranganathittu, near Mysore is one of the interesting and largest bird sanctuary in Karnataka and never miss out a chance to visit if you are around Mysore.

Though the sanctuary is operational throughout the year, best time to visit is June to November since it is nesting time. December on wards migratory birds can be seen. It is a treat to the eyes.

Sanctuary entry fee and the boating is Rs. 70 per head with guided boat driver. Along with the birds bats and crocodiles are also can be seen. There are about 100 crocodiles in the lake and they do not harm. The boat ride is safe.

A small park has been well maintained with wash rooms.
